Pfizer vaccines are available across Worcester city this week. Visit www.worcestercity-pcn.co.uk/boosters for opening times and locations (updated January 2022).
In line with the recent government announcement, the NHS is aiming to offer every adult the opportunity to book a COVID-19 booster vaccine by the end of 2021. This means some members of our practice team will need to be redeployed to work on the rollout - which will limit some of the services we're able to offer over the next few weeks.
We're still here to support patients with urgent health needs and we will of course be bringing back all routine services as soon as possible once our local residents have been vaccinated. However, you can help us by doing the following things:-
- Keep our phone lines clear. Please don't call our practice to book a booster - as these are being handled by our local Primary Care Network. You can find out more at www.worcestercity-pcn.co.uk/boosters.
- Alternatively, if you'd prefer not to wait, you can visit the link below or call 119 to book your appointment at a large scale vaccination centre: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/
- Keeping our phone lines clear for patients with urgent care needs will allow us to best support those who need us most, while freeing up our staff to support the rollout.
- Use at-home remedies and other local services. A well stocked medicine cabinet can be incredibly helpful in managing your own health, and helps to take the pressure off the NHS. The NHS website offers a good list of what your medicine cabinet should include - you can find this here: www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/your medicine-cabinet/
- Local pharmacists can also give advice on and treat a range of symptoms - including diarrhoea, earaches, painful coughs, sticky eyes, teething and rashes. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, your local pharmacist can help.
- Know what to do for urgent treatment. NHS 111 can offer support for urgent but non-life threatening health concerns - both online and on the phone. They can signpost you to the right treatment provider - and can book you in to an Urgent Treatment Centre if you need it.
- You should only attend A&E or dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency, such as severe bleeding, breathing difficulties, a stroke, or severe chest pain. If you are experiencing any of these, please don't wait - call 999 immediately.
Our practice team are working increasingly hard to support with the vaccine rollout - as well as continuing to deal with the ongoing impact of coronavirus in our community. We're very grateful for your continued support as we temporarily reduce our services to meet this national challenge - and we hope to be back to full service very soon.
Please note that our staff and patients area required to wear a mask at the surgery, unless they are exempt from doing so.
We are working tirelessly to follow infection prevention and control protocols at our practice, and mask-wearing remains an essential part of this—helping to limit the transmission and protect our most vulnerable patients.
We’re also continuing to follow social distancing measures, so please keep an eye on the signs around our surgery and maintain a two metre distance from others.
If you’re unable to wear a mask, please let the team know when you arrive, and the clinician will make an appropriate decision based on your circumstances to ensure you receive treatment in the safest possible way.
We at Elbury Moor Medical Centre are working with GP Surgeries across the City to make flu jabs easier to access in 2021. From September, Worcester City Primary Care Network will be opening a flu vaccination centre at Worcester Racecourse, which eligible patients will be invited to attend. Getting your flu jab here will ensure vaccine allocated for patients doesn't go to waste, and means we're able to keep your records up to date ahead of any further Covid-19 vaccinations you may need to receive - so please wait to be contacted by us to book your flu jab. The latest information on our vaccination campaigns and frequently asked questions an be found at:-
www.worcestercity-pcn.co.uk/flu and on Facebook @worcestercitypcn
COVID VACCINATION STATUS
17 May 2021, people in England who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 can demonstrate their vaccination status for international travel. A full course is currently two doses of any approved vaccine. Vaccine status will be available from the NHS App which you can download from app stores.
It may take more than a week for your identity to be checked and verified so you can use this service.
If you cannot access this online service, and you have had 2 vaccines, you can request a paper letter from the NHS by calling 119. Only call 119 if you are due to travel abroad in the near future and have had your second dose more than 5 working days ago. It may take 7 working days for the letter to arrive.
This practice is not able to provide you with a letter that shows your COVID-19 vaccination status.
When you're planning your travel check the latest information on demonstrating your COVID-19 status when travelling abroad on the gov.uk website. Make sure there is time to get proof of your vaccination status before you leave.

Beware of Scammers
There is heightened coverage around the recent Coronavirus outbreak around the world, which is now severely impacting on the UK and the NHS.
Unfortunately fraudsters are targeting these circumstances to take advantage of public fear and concern.
We have been made aware that our patients are receiving phone calls., texts and letters from fraudsters. They will try and obtain your personal details and in particular your NHS number.
Scammers are sophisticated, opportunistic and will try many ways to get the information they want. They often target the vulnerable.
If you are suspicious, do not give any details over the phone, hang up and then ring your GP Practice to confirm.
We are using AccuRx to communicate with our Patients for appointment reminders, links to helpful information relevant to you (following a consultation) and to book your covid vaccination appointments.
